— On the basis of systematic trends in X-ray photoemission core-level spectra of the rare earth elements and the adjacent elements, it is suggested that the 5s, 5p3/2 and 4d levels of the actinides should exhibit strong many-electron effects. The available actinide data appears to support the above predictions.
